The Munster Junior Championships 2016 were held from the 17-18 September in the West County Hotel, Ennis. The event was open to all juniors while the titles of Munster Champions were granted to those living or born in Munster. The event was hosted by the Munster Junior Chess Committee and John Cassidy, as chairperson of that committee, was on hand to present the prizes to the winners at the presentation on Sunday afternoon.
Juniors were competing separately in the U8, U10, U12 sections, the U14 U16 and U18 sections were merged.

U10 Boys: Ronan Kilroy Girls: Emma Louise Kelly
U12 Dylan Murphy
U14 Boys: Aaron Lillis
U14 Girls: Aliona Mihaylova
U16 Philip Gaethlich
U18 Thomas Keating
